Woo! I can now announce that this year, I will be working once again with the amazing Genki Gear on some new tee designs! From next week you will be able to pre-order Yeti In A Snowstorm from Genki Gear's website. Keep an eye out at this year's comic cons too! :D

Last year I was contacted by an apparel company to design some t-shirts which was very exciting. The resultant tees are now available in a range of shops, high street and on-line!  I have a bunch more hopefully coming out soon! :D

The tees are available from Blue Banana, This Is Pulp, Jukupop and Play among others!

Exciting things in Art Town!

This last week has been a bit crazy: I've been approached by a lot of people about a lot of work and can now confirm two very exciting projects that I will be involved in! The first is that my comic Brains Etc. will be published by an all-ages Canadian publisher very soon! It will be slightly different from my small press effort and will now be 32 pages (new material will be drawn) instead of 26 and will also be available as a digital comic for various platforms. I'm really happy that not much needs to be done on it and I get to tidy-up and add some new material. I'm just sorting out the final format guff with the publisher and then it'll be time to get stuck in!

The second project is something I'm super-excited about: I get to design a range of t-shirts under my own label! The range is being produced by a major tee distributor and will hopefully be 16 original designs. I have some themes to work to but get to put my own mark on everything. The line will hopefully go to a London fashion show in September for initial reactions and we'll see how it goes from there. I'm hoping this goes well as it's been one of my all-time dreams for a long time! I'm starting work on both of these projects amongst a billion other things so the next month or so is going to be a bit manic. Bring it on, I say! XD

MCM Expo, new t-shirt design and general goodness!

Last weekend I had a table at the MCM Expo in London and I have to say, it was brilliant! The atmosphere was amazing and although it's a heavily anime-based con, my prints sold like warmed-through baked goods! Until I get proper internet back, here are a couple of pics:

It was a knackering weekend but very enjoyable and as always, I made all monies back with profit. Comic cons have pretty much become another part-time job for me and I think I've found a good set of things to sell. The paintings always get attention and sold very well at MCM; key rings are small and cheap and people constantly buy them and the prints I get made are fast becoming my most popular items.

Genki Gear also had my new design on their table and I'm glad to say it sold fantastically! Here it is in all its glory:

In other news, our house has finally gone through! I can't express the sheer relief at this; somewhere to live! With a studio! And a garden! And a loft! We pick up our keys tomorrow and it's all systems go this weekend as we get moved in. Hopefully my next post will come from my all-new studio/guest room! :D

More Tee Vicar?

I told you I'd get addicted to Threadless...

Here is yet another new t-shirt design. Sorry if this is getting a tad boring but I'm trying to get myself into the habit of posting one a week. The reason for this is that it gets me off of my bum-bum and makes me think about something new to post and have it ripped apart by ravenous t-shirt critics! My last two tees did less than average on Threadless but that only serves to make me try and think harder about what kind of design makes a good tee. Speaking of, I have a new design coming out through the awesome Genki Gear very soon; more on that later! :P

Hecticness and another t-shirt design

Okay, I think I'm going to be spamming Threadless with quite a few t-shirt designs! My first tee is still up for voting but I got itchy and made this one too which will hopefully be approved within the next day or so so get ready to vote again! Hopefully I can reach a wider audience with these designs; I'm already getting into voting on other people's tees and trying to make my stinky presence known within the site. Fingers crossed!

In other news, things will be a tad quiet on the art front as I'm packing up my flat ready for moving. Here's where things get a little complicated; my boyf and I are in the process of being all grown up (guh) and buying a house. However, we're off to New York for 2 weeks at the start of October so I will officially be living with him when I get back until everything goes through. Bear in mind we're back a day and then off to the Birmingham Comic Show, things are going to be a bit tiring to say the least. But hopefully at the end of all this, we will have an awesome little house to call our own!

I'll be trying to get some new pics done in the meantime, just for my own sanity but my updates may be a little bit infrequent this coming month. My head hurts...

Threadless Submission!

I just submitted a t-shirt design to Threadless after much umming and ahhing! I've had a very positive response to this image recently so thought I'd submit it as a tee. My design is still pending approval before voting opens but I thought I'd give everyone a heads-up so you can get your voting fingers ready! I'll no doubt post again when voting is officially open :D

Tee design in Retro Gamer!

I've never been much of a subscriber to magazines (apart from Owl TV and Bugs! when I was a kid) but I get the awesome Retro Gamer every month through my door without fail! As an 80's kid who started out with a Spectrum ZX 128K, I've seen the amazing leaps and bounds that the world of video games has taken over the years and RG is a constant trip down memory and sad pining for my Amiga. I got my new copy through the door today and started to flip through when what did I see:

My Genki Gear design! In my favourite mag! Apologies for the bad photo; I was too excited to take a good one! Genki Gear have a few tees featured in the issue and I'm really glad mine was one of them. I wont be sneaking peeks at it for the rest of the day...

Robots in Disguise!

A bit of a Transformers themed post today; I've been having a great time painting and drawing TF characters, although my sense of symmetry leaves a lot to be desired! I'm aiming to get several more characters drawn in order to make some sticker packs for the Bristol Comic Con. Hopefully people will like them!

I'm going to take a short break from painting at the moment to concentrate on a few other bits that need attention. Milk Town will be getting some new stuff, namely a swanky new shop! I'm going to be using a special shop program for artists as I really just can't seem to get on with Etsy. I don't know why as it's easy to use and all but I find I dread updating it and get a bit bored when it comes to maintaining it. This one hopefully will be a lot less hassle! It will also act as my main on-line store so I can link to it from all my sites. There will also be new buildings and comics on the Milk Town website which I'm working on at the moment.

I'll be spending most of this evening working on the two t-shirt designs I'm drawing for an American horror convention. More on those soon! :P

T-shirts!

I'm going to be attempting to print my own t-shirts for the Birmingham Con with heat transfer paper (risky) with the above three pics as the designs. I'm mainly making girls tees to test the market/waters, but will also have a few for the boys! Updates when the tees are ready, fingers crossed...

More Genki Gear Designs!

I'm going to be doodling ideas for a new t-shirt design for Genki Gear's October range. Rather than use an exisiting image like my last two tees, this one will be a new design, which I'm particularly excited about! I've decided to go for a Yokai based design, Yokai being Japanese ghosts. Japanese folklore is fascinating and has some of the best ghost stories as well as the oddest. Case in point is the Karakasa; an umbrella with one big eye and a gaping mouth, based on the legend that if an inamimate object exists for 100 years it will be granted life! I've drawn quite a few Yokai and choosing a design for a tee will be hard, but that's what my sketchbook is for!

Bristol Con and exciting things!

The Bristol International Comic Con is over for another year and I'm sad to say, a tad disappointing this time around. The Small Press Expo was pretty awesome; I made some sales, met some nice people and all in all it was worth the £15 I spent on the table. The main con was tiny this year and to me the only notable stands were Top Shelf and Genki Gear. It's a shame as the con is usually one of the high points of the year and it was rather non-eventful this time. I can understand why it was so small given the current economic climate but hopefully next year will see the con back on top form.

As for the exciting news...! My new t-shirt through Genki Gear will be available to buy from them and Play very shortly. It comes in no less than 4 awesome colours as well as two gorgeous jackets which I can't wait to get my greasy mitts on! My favourite colour is the orange tee as seen here:


However, that isn't the only bit of exciting news; two of Genki Gear's t-shirts have been selected by SFX Magazine as two of their Top 40 Sci-Fi Related Merchandise, one of which is Destroy Them! Whoot! So you should be able to see my evil robot as well as (hopefully) a name credit in the June issue of SFX. No doubt I'll be posting when that comes out!
