All New Website!

I've spent the better part of this week finally giving my stale old website a much needed going over. As I use a template site, I wanted to add all of my own title bars, menu icons etc. and it finally looks a bit more like I always wanted it too! Hopefully it's okay; it was hard to know how much/little work to add. Any opinions would be much appreciated as this is where I'll be directing potential clients; I want to make sure the work on there represents me and what I can do so have a look and tell me what you think!

Recent Painterings!

I've had a nice spate of painting commissions as of late, so I haven't been totally lazy since culling my daily comic!

Quite possibly the oddest commission I've ever had: Deadpool in drag! The costume he's wearing belongs to Marvel Girl and is in reference to this rather funny X-Men story :P

This was for the lovely Kat Nicholson; he's one of her original characters and was a blast to paint!

A painting of Stitch for a friends daughter; this was really fun to paint!

Another painting for Kat of one of her characters. Awesome little green panda! (Bad photo with no flash and early morning hue! :P)

Another big undertaking over the next week or so is a complete re-design/overhaul of my main website. I've held off sending stuff off to publishers for the time being as I'm not all that happy with any of my stuff at the moment. My website is a bit out of date and could do with a major tweak; I figure that since it's the main place I want to send people to get an idea of my work, there's no point if I don't like it and keep re-directing potential clients to my blog. I've drawn the main elements for it and it's really just a matter of choosing the right artwork for each gallery. The new look site will hopefully be less dull than the current one and a lot less cluttered. I'm looking forward to getting it together and will no doubt be asking for opinions when it's done!

Milk Town Website!

After ages of thinking about it, I actually got off of my bum-bum and made a start on my Milk Town website! It's still very much in the construction stages but there's enough there at the moment to get a good idea of what's what. I've spent the last couple of days manically drawing stuff for it which has been awesome; I don't think I've been this addicted and excited to draw anything in ages! I will be celebrating the launch of the site with a Milk Town giveaway, so keep an eye out to win some stickers and other goodies!

Milk Town Dentist!

He may look like a bit of a maniac, but Milk Town's resident dentist makes sure each pulled tooth becomes a new citizen! I'm having a great time creating characters for my new character series called Milk Town. I'd like to expand this into a comic series as I just seem to do a lot of character work without actually having them in any kind of situation. I'm aiming to make this my next challenge! Milk Town will soon have it's own website too which I'm starting to design at the moment. When the New Year brings a more stable money situation, I'll be getting some Milk Town stuff printed too!

Website Pondering

The last day or so, I've been prepping myself to contact publishers (seven emailed at time of blogging) and so had to update my website. At the moment, my website just serves as an online portfolio for people to look at (the whole point of it, I guess!) but I'd like it to be a hell of a lot better. There are 2 things that stop me doing this though: 1. I'm not a great designer when it comes to these things and 2. I always feel that I can't invest the time it would take to redesign it. My site is hosted through Moonfruit which for someone like me is great because it's easy to edit and update and is pretty flexible when it comes to layouts and what-not. The downside is it's a lot more expensive than most people probably pay for their sites.
Who do people use for their sites? How do you go about deciding on the design? Any help would be much appreciated as I'd like my first port-of-call for potential clients to really stand out!
