Stuff and Guff!

Yoink, what a busy couple of weeks! It doesn't seen to have stopped since LFCC which I'm not complaining about in the slightest! As well as getting various private commissions, I've been working on an exciting project that I can't mention as of yet (mostly because I don't want to jinx it) and some greeting card designs for a charity. I'm also getting a whole bunch of promotional material printed and just generally trying to fit things in where I can. Needless to say, I'm having a great time though; I love being an illustrator! :D
I was looking through my DeviantArt gallery the other day and realised I've got about 850 pictures in my gallery. I've been a member for about 5 years now, so not too amazing, I hear you say. Well, considering that at least 600 of those have come out of the last three years alone, it's a tad scary! In 2009 I submitted a whopping 75 pictures in one month. I think people will want to slap me when I say I still don't think I'm as productive as I think I could be...
I guess thinking of it that way has made me realise just how much work I've done in the last few years. It's been tough but it's been more than worth it. Let's hope I can keep it up!

  1. You are too productive! I wish I could produce so much quality/quantity so quickly :-) Very exciting to hear about all these projects you've got on the go!

  2. I concur with Sarah, you're a very busy woman! You're the sort of person who always thinks they could do more, I'm the same.

I am also intrigued by this secret project and I look forward to hearing more about it!

  3. Blimey! I think you need a picture of yourself beside the dictionary definition of the word 'productive.' And perhaps 'annoyingly brilliant and talented' but those are four words and not one :P

Itching to see the second project!

  4. I can't imagine getting that much done either. I am excited because I am doing a cartooning and amination course starting in a few weeks. I keep looking at all your work and I love it so much. I hope my characters will one day, when I get their shapes right, be good too!

  5. Hi Jess
Thanks for your comment. I actually live in Australia, so I am doing the first course as a self-directed one, the cartooning one. I will get all the course stuff and submit pieces to the teacher and get feedback on them. I wish in a way that I had a teacher and classroom for this one, but oh well.

The second course is in a class room in the Brisbane Institute of Art where I live for two days, all day long. They are not for profit and have heard amazing things about them. I am really excited about both courses. I am working with my characters right now and trying to get their shapes right. I haven't drawn for a long time but Katie and Sarah C were the ones that inspired me to want to get bac into it. I have a million ideas, some which came to me after reading Green Bean and some that have just come because of the characters themselves. They really talk to me and I kinda know what each character wants. I'm sure you understand this (I hope I'm not just crazy). I am practicing over and over one of the characters at the moment. I want to get it to the point where her shape is automatic and I can just draw her. I have trouble with working out here the shade needs to be and how to show movement. I have a lot to learn but I am very excited about it. I love your characters by the way, the are awesome.

Surname is wrong though, it has my maiden name. I would think you got my eamil address. I wasn't sure of yours.

  7. Love the new Milk Town logo!

Love this post even more (sorry it took so long to comment).

I hope this discovery makes you stop for 30 seconds and actually take in how productive you have been/are.

    Being an illustrator rocks :)
